Little Miracles Big Blessings

Annette and I have been blessed with three wonderful children, a grandson, and a great son-in-law. While every birth is a miracle, every once in a while a miracle produces an unexpected blessing.

It was much more than your normal birth. After both Annette and I had surgery that prevented having more children, at the age of 45, Annette began having "health issues."

She was given one test after another; everything checked out to be fine. Finally after three months of tests, a CT scan indicated a "mass" in her uterus. An ultra sound was immediately ordered. I shall never forget the feeling of relief that it was not cancer and the shock of witnessing a very lively baby waving its arms and kicking its legs-what a plethora of feelings.

Six months later a beautiful, healthy baby girl was born.

As of the day Anika Noelle Poling was born; according to Dr. Jeffery Hatcher, she was the only baby to survive after the mother had a uterus ablation. Take those odds and combine them with the chance that a 45 year old lady would conceive a child with a 47 year old man who had preventative surgery, it is staggering.

This little girl is nothing less than a miracle and every bit of a blessing to all she interacts with.

I enjoy sharing pictures of not only this little angel, but pictures of my grandson, our 26 year old daughter and our 22 year old son.

We are nothing less than blessed.
